Yes, it is true, Summer is finally just around the corner. We all know what that means... It's time to take off the baggy sweatshirts, sweats, and hats and get back into shape. It is also the time we start running out of excuses why we aren't able to get outside and jog. It's to cold... Ice on the ground...Have to stay home and take care of the kids... Have to prepare for the upcoming Holiday (isn't it nice we get "summer break" from the majors Holidays too?).
Sorry to tell you, but the excuses are all spent. Not only are the cold whether and Holidays out of the way but we are also now bombarded with loads of Jogging Strollers - so now, you can take your kids along with you. A few great jogging strollers I have come across are Bob, Instep, BabyJogger, and many others, both Singles and Doubles.
The great thing about getting fit in the summer is we can do it completely free. There is no need to pay a Gym 20 dollars a month to run on the treadmill when we have the wide open road. Just remember to start slow and pace yourself. We all have to begin somewhere. Something is ALWAYS better than nothing. So lets go do something.
The thing to remember is everyone can get into better shape. Not one of us can say we are to healthy to have to work out. So whether you're an expert runner or you think that running is only for politicians, it is time make some goals and get healthier. Just remember, lacing up the shoes and stepping outside is the hardest part of any work-out, once your past that point it is all downhill from there (figuratively, hopefully not literally).
If I haven’t convinced you yet of the importance of getting outside this summer I would like to remind you of some of the benefits of walking and jogging.
1) You’ll be able you not only lose weight, but also keep it off.
2) You will strengthen your cardiovascular system.
3) Your bones, muscles, and joints will all be strengthened.
4) (this is the most important) You will strengthen your mind. As you exercise and continue to push yourself, you will learn how to beat adversity. You will also learn how to better control both you mind and body.
Please feel free to share any other ideas with me and other friends of this blog. I am also looking to set up some sort of a schedule and discussion board where we can all help each other out in our efforts to get healthier so be sure to check back in within a week or so.
